Founded along the route of the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1880, the New Mexico community of Lordsburg has paid host to several notable personalities during its history including aviator Charles Lindburgh, who dedicated the local airport in 1927 following his historic Trans-Atlantic flight. From its strategic location in New Mexico's "bootheel," midway between El Paso and Tucson on Interstate 10, Lordsburg is a welcome sight to weary travelers along the Mimbres-Paquime Connection Loop Trail.
